So my first blog entry begs the question, “What Nursing Program will you attend, Kanda?” That is still under review and consideration. I have so fortunately been accepted to Marymount University (Alexandria, VA) and Roseman University of Health Sciences (Henderson, NV). These are both 15 month accelerated BSN programs; however, they are completely different as to the approach to learning.
Roseman is a hybrid program; online lecture with one class at a time approach. Marymount is a traditional program, 4-5 classes per semester, in-person lecture. Roseman requires a 90% on each exam; therefore, you graduate with a 4.0 GPA and Marymount requires graduation with a 2.5 GPA minimum, 78% average. Obviously the cost of living for each is different; Arlington, VA is much more expensive than the Las Vegas, NV area.
Since Roseman starts July 7th, and Marymount starts August 25th, I don’t have much time left to make the big decision. Where will I gain my BSN/RN degree? Stay tuned as I sort out all the pros and cons of each that at this point still have not brought this ‘overly logical and cerebral’ girl to a clear decision. Thank you for being a part of my journey!
