Busy – redefined

photo-14

If I thought I knew what being busy entailed, it now holds a new definition and the previous understanding I thought I had has been thrown out the window.  This program is termed ‘Accelerated’ for a reason.  I have survived the first week however it was lighter than normal due to no lab or clinical class.  This afternoon, I took some time to list all exams, projects, papers, patient reviews and case study assignments due or scheduled for the semester; the photo reflects a list from just one course.

I also mapped out my summary of work to be done in preparation for the week ahead and though it is a short week due to the Labor Day Holiday, it will be another day of ‘study labor’ for me.  I have 11 chapters of text to read and absorb, and 3 chapters of medical math calculations to perform.  In addition, I will also be reviewing the notes from the first week’s classes to further understand electrolyte imbalance and common lab values, clinical manifestations when these are too high or too low, proper personal protective equipment (PPE) donning and removal, infection precautions, and the various types of gangrene and edema.

Although I anticipate this program of study will be the most difficult thing I have ever done, I can honestly say, I love it!

This may be the last blog wherein I can provide detail; mostly due to time management and the challenges this rigorous schedule requires.  Sleep will soon be a luxury and caffeine will replace water as critical to my existence.
